I would even place them above those teams, because the Stars were not even expected to advance past Round 1 by many. If they couldn't win The Cup, at least they received the final-minute ovation they deserved.

On another note, this ensures that the city of Detroit, MI will be vandalized sometime in the next 2 weeks. They'll set fire to that place, win or lose.Poncenomicshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00617946618572642818noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10242068.post-41946635445319584032008-05-20T13:42:00.000-05:002008-05-20T13:42:00.000-05:00After everything the Stars have given us this seas...After everything the Stars have given us this season, and especially this postseason, I can't imagine anyone feeling bitter or disappointed in them for losing to the team who should be the odds-on favorite to be skating the cup within the next couple of weeks. Of course there are no guarantees in sports, so it is possible the Stars don't duplicate this season's success next year, but there doesn't seem to be any reason not to feel good about this team's outlook for the future. The youngsters are stepping up, the core of players like Ribero, Turco, Richards, adding a pretty highly-touted player like Brunnstrom (sic?), plus a Captain any team in the league would be happy to have; all in all, things look so much brighter for the Stars than they have in a very long time.

One more point about the '97-'98-'99 and '07-'08-(hopefully!) '09 parallels - the '97 and '07 seven-game losses were both to teams from the Great White North. Stay tuned...RKWhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02287284227848317532noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10242068.post-57686440431259795902008-05-20T13:32:00.000-05:002008-05-20T13:32:00.000-05:00I'm going to echo one of the comments above and sa...I'm going to echo one of the comments above and say that I don't know when I've been more proud of a professional sports team in recent memory than I was of the Stars in the playoffs this year.

I can't think of another team in this town in recent memory that left its guts on the field/floor/ice the way the Stars did. As embarrassed as I was in Game 3 to hear people boo this team, I was even more proud last night to see them give the Stars the props they so richly earned. I have to renounce part of my criticism of casual Stars fans as being consumers first and fans second. Mavs fans are still on notice, though.

I hope Zubie and Modano will think about retiring this offseason. Both are on the down side of their careers and they have given us so many great memories. I for one want to remember them as they were instead of watching them try to gut it out while being increasingly exposed.

Mike Modano has nothing left to prove to anyone. He broke Phil Housley's American points record this season, he's won a Stanley Cup and he seems to finally have found some personal peace with his marriage to Willa Ford. You're set, Mike. You'll always be a Star.

I look forward to Grossman and Niskanen getting more ice time and experience; they look like they are going to both be excellent blueliners for a long time.

I am also looking forward to seeing what Fabian Brunnstrom will bring to the table next year.

Thanks, Stars. Echoing mk's comment, you're the class of the Dallas teams in my opinion.

Now, on to baseball. What is CJ Wilson's problem with closing out hitters with two strikes on them? Anyone? You're an easy team to root for, something increasingly difficult in this city of celeb-thletes, criminals, and choke artists.MKhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12074927223032916606noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10242068.post-42644106780659026242008-05-20T10:51:00.000-05:002008-05-20T10:51:00.000-05:00What an electric playoff run. I'm so proud of those boys.

They showed such heart and made us all feel that feeling we hope to have when we pour our hopes and dreams into a team. The cheering during the last minute [and after] the end of the game was a very clear indication of what this team has given us Dallas Stars fans this season. We have nothing but gratitude and appreciate for the run this team had. It was an emotional moment for them, and the Stars fan.

I don't think I have to reitterate that what we have to look forward to from these guys is something to be excited about.

Great run, Stars.

Thanks for all of the blogs and thoughts during the season and post-season, Bob.Meredithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15572606030425195012noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10242068.post-28027878429866619642008-05-20T10:46:00.000-05:002008-05-20T10:46:00.000-05:00We need a video montage of playoff footage to the ...We need a video montage of playoff footage to the tune of Boston's "Don't Look Back".Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01692977830913397598noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10242068.post-57232891941167336452008-05-20T10:19:00.000-05:002008-05-20T10:19:00.000-05:00All good points Bob.
