THERE COULD be an 11th-hour breakthrough in negotiations to save the NHL season. A league source told the Sun last night that talks to get a new collective bargaining agreement in place took a major turn yesterday in Chicago when the NHL Players' Association introduced the possibility of a six-year agreement, which would include a salary cap under certain circumstances.
I am still pessimistic, but now it is time for everyone to get serious about saving the sport. Also, allow me to note for the 1,000th time, that any progress is made because the players swallow their pride and make it. The owners are too busy trying to figure out how to sell their teams and get out of hockey. Advantage players.
"player's" and "owner's" should each lose the apostrophe.
ReplyDeleteI don't cod-dun to bad grammar.
fixed.
ReplyDeleteUntil Bettman resigns, the sport will not be fixed. Simple as that. They think they're making a difference by moving the goal away from and then back towards the boards. They are completely clueless about what the sport actually needs.
ReplyDeleteAt this point, I'd prefer that they cancel the season and start fresh next year. I miss hockey like crazy, but a half season is a complete waste of time. I'll just keep watching my VHS tapes of the Flyers from last year's playoffs and wait until next season.
We can only hope but I still doubt anything big is going to happen... And by the way - love the new format - it looks so official! Love it...
