Raffy Suspended! ...
In a prepared statement, Palmeiro said he could not explain how the steroids got into his body. "I have never intentionally used steroids. Never. Ever. Period," he said. "Ultimately, although I never intentionally put a banned substance into my body, the independent arbitrator ruled that I had to be suspended under the terms of the program."
I have never intentionally used steroids. Intentionally?
I thought you were waving your finger in front of congress, back in March:
Canseco, as well as sluggers Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa and Rafael Palmeiro, testified. "I have never used steroids. Period," Palmeiro told the committee. Sosa also denied taking the drugs. McGwire said he would not tell on players who might have used steroids.
Oh, Dear.
I was getting ready to rip the article Skip Bayless wrote on espn.com after Raffy hit his 500th homerun - basically saying that Palmeiro didn't deserve to be in the HOF, yadda-yadda-yadda.
ReplyDeleteNow... I might have to agree w/him (and that hurts mightily).
Accidentally ingesting steroids is kind of like being a little bit pregnant - unless Raffy was slipped a Roofi.
Unbelievable.
ReplyDeleteNot that he took them, but that he got caught after his little charade before Congress.
He's using the same defense Bonds as used....accident.
Bob, feel free to pass this along to your drivetime friends: If they continue to defend Raffy after this, or give him a pass of some sort, they will lose at least one long time faithful listener. I will be gone once WTDS ends every day from here on out.
They better come down hard on Raffy. There's no difference between him and Bonds at this point.
Oh man, I think it sucks, but I really want to hear what the Hardline has to say about this. Their most sacred cow has just been sent to the butcher.
ReplyDeleteYep, there is no defense for this. Raffy is no better than Bonds or any of the other cheaters. He lied to Congress (which is a federal offense) and he lied to the fans. He has no place EVER in the HOF and he is a disgrace to the sport.
ReplyDeleteFirst Dave Bliss, and now Raffy. Boy the Hardliner's aren't great judges of character are they? :)
ReplyDeleteLook for the news about Rusty Greer's homosexual, auto-erotic asphyxiation/vomit porn to be released later this month.
If you think that The Hardline will do anything other than crater then you're sorely mistaken.
ReplyDeleteYou'll hear words like, "unbelieveable", "disappointed" and "can't believe it", but you won't hear them rip Palmiero in anyway. They'll cling to his shockingly flimsy statement of not "knowingly" taking steroids as gospel and give him a pass. If Palmiero was an a-hole like Bonds, Greggo would call in at 1:00pm and take up two full hours of ripping on the guy, but no, Raffy is safe with The Hardline.
I agree with Jared in Irving. If The Hardline don't go to destroyong Palmiero, they won't lose a listener, but they'll lose a lot of respect in my eyes.
F-Fernando and F-Liverpool
Oops, I repeated myself in the first sentence of the second paragraph and I put "Knowingly" where I should have put "Intentionally". Screw me for not proof reading before posting.
ReplyDeleteF-Arsenal as well.

ReplyDeleteF-Arsenal as well.
I have a feeling that "The Hardline" will need some of Raffy's Viagra today, because otherwise they won't be "hard" on him one bit...
ReplyDeleteSo, he's saying that he took something given to him by somebody, BUT he didn't know what it was? That sounds EXACTLY like Bonds' load of crap. If someone handed me a drink and after consuming the drink I was arrested for a DWI, the jury would laugh at me if I tried the "unintentionally vs. knowingly" arguement.
ReplyDeleteI guess it's time to update the Palmiero/Bone Marrow/Sparrow song. Maybe to the tune of Chris Knight's "I Was Framed".
That loud noise you just heard was the Hardline's run sheet exploding. Darn.
I think that after you get caught on the 'roids your stats should be reset to zero. 0 hits. 0 HRs. Would that be incentive enough?
ReplyDeletegeez, this today doesnt suck is a beating, needless attacks on gabe kapler even though he isnt the one who tested positive.
ReplyDeleteyea, listening to greggo is making me vomit all over my screen...
ReplyDelete"innocent til proven guilty??" HE TESTED POSITIVE!! does greggo want to see him actually pee in the cup?
And Greggo would hold the cup for him....
ReplyDeleteWow.
ReplyDeleteThe Hardline have apparently decided that talk about the Cowboy's linebackers is more important than Raffy.
Nope. No bias with Mike and Greggo.
funniest segment ever!
ReplyDeleteI know that this is just a bit, but this is some boring a*sed radio. At least let's have Cobra playing pranks or fun with real audio or something...
ReplyDeleteHarldline credibility....down the toilet.
ReplyDeleteYou have to actually have some credibility first in order to lose it. And The Hardline has had none since the NASCAR/TMS payola years ago anyway...
ReplyDeleteHey, I have to keep listening just to see how long the gutless pig's asses can avoid talking about it...
ReplyDeleteC'mon guys, get a grip.
ReplyDeleteThey were doing a bit and did eventually address it.
Props to the Hardline.
