Defense Wins Championships or Game 3's

That, kids, is a playoff road win. At times, it felt like the 1991 Chicago Bulls. Or am I drinking the koolaid.

6 More to Go.

  1. Hey, bottom's up, baby...

I don't see why everyone in the league can't pin these Suns as the Mavs of 3 years ago. My gosh people...why the man crush now? Finally we get to be on the right side for once!

As a Spurs fan it KILLS me to see how the Mavs took (or stole) from the Spurs playoff basketball.

The Mavs should be ashamed they lost gone game, but will feel proud they win in 5.

The Mavs beat the Spurs (thanks to Avery), and unless they throw up all over themselves should win the NBA title this year.

The Suns play Nellie-ball. The Heat can't match up. And Detroit lost their identity without Larry Brown.

The Suns down Kurt Thomas, Raja Bell or Amare Stoudimire are a 6 man rotation at best. If Avery can't beat them with a 11 man roster (all time towel waiver Darrel Armstrong doesn't count), Avery should be fired on the spot.

Let the Mavs get their (*) title (like SA circa 1999) and get to next season....

Why the F do they need a * next to their title?

Spares fans are still bitter! The Mavs are best team in the NBA. No * needed.

Ya the mavs should get an * for outplaying the spurs..quit crying and enjoy good team basketball for a change..

as far as the suns go you cant win on offense alone gotta make stops down the stretch..if you live by jump shooting and 3's and they dont fall then you gotta figure out a way to generate offense somewhere else..

  6. Yea, the Spurs just can't accept defeat. Tony Parker was sitting in the crowd with a Diaw jersey on. Shouldn't he be fishing right now?

And the Mavs have earned everything up to this point. They swept their first-round opponent, they beat the top seed, and now they're trying to take down the 2nd seed. No need for an asterik.

I am a bitter Mavs fan b/c of the national media's drooling over the suns when they are a blacker/more athletic version of nellieball....Thank goodness we won that game to put all the pressure square on the Suns.

    And F the spurs fans.

  9. When did the East beat out the West for best NBA conference? Since when have there been more captivating teams, serieses (?), moments - you name it? And yet the TNT boys (and many others) are just itching every time the camera's red light comes on to stop talking Mavs-Suns and start talking Pistons-Heat. Here's your HSO: both of the teams left in the West can run. Neither of the teams in the East can.

  10. Spurs Fans. lol

The Suns had 4 fast break points people. 4. Game one they had 32(?) Tonight, they had 4.

Thats what people should be talking about. TNT sucks. Tony Parker shouldnt get any freaking air time. Steve Kerr is starting to bother me, if he mentions the 3-ball and getting the crowd into it one more tiime....

    Mavs transition D = good.

    Mavs in 6.

    Spurs 2005-2006 Season*

    (OUT OF SEASON SHOW, BRU-THAAAAA!)

Limiting the Suns to 36 points in 24 minutes is insane. I'll be shocked if the Mavs need to leave Dallas to finish this one-dimensional team off.

  12. Spurs fans need not be mentioned on a night as glorious as the Suns being totally knocked off their game.

But even so lets hit them below the belt.

Manu Ginobili throws the ball out of bounds on a critical in-bound play...

Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker lose the ball in a critical play when devin Harris gets a hand on it....

Manu Ginobili fouls Dirk on the most important 3 point play in Mavericks history....

    Manu Ginobili for President

In the postgame Nash said they miss Raja's "toughness and leadership". Isn't that what MVP's provide? Same show different channel. Great player, no heart.

Woah fellas, The championship was over last week. As far as the as the spurs go Pop told Avery at the end of game 7 that the best team won, and told AJ to go ahead and win his 2nd championship. Thats a class act. Even though I think Michael finley has rubbed off on Duncan and I think manure ginobili is big balding flopping tuna. I will root for the spures (when they are not playing the mavs) But the truth is with out the spurs their would be no championship coming to dallas. This is a cast of student passing the teacher.

This is looking an awful lot like the little general just got out coached in game 1...luckily, Avery's no Nellie....he actually adjusts to his opponent.

    Mavs in 5.

Yea, you're drinking the kool-aid Sturm, but given how long this city has waited to see the Mavs make "the leap" it's more than acceptable to do so. I never claimed to be a die-hard Mavs fan(I'm more of a college athletics fan, but I digress), but even I'm enjoying this run. I'm staying up late to watch the games even though I have to be up at 4:30am for work; I'm listening to the press conferences on Dunham & Miller, heck I've even learned how to pronounce 'Diop'. It's a fun time to be a sports fan in Dallas. Enjoy it, because you never know when it will fall apart.

    LOL,

I guess I was a little hard with the asterisk comment.

But seriously, the Mavs won the Western Conference in the 2nd round. And they are absolutely perfectly built to kill whoever comes out of the East. No doubt the Mavs are the best team in the NBA.

Enjoy the ride Mavs fan! Can't wait until next year.

BTW, try really hard not to morph into a Dallas version of 'unbearable Spurs fan' after you win the title. As San Antonio native, I'll still admit that generic 'Spurs' fan is a beating. Win with class fellas.

    Blah..Blah..Blah!

Why can't Spur fan take one out of Pop's playbook and lose with class? You have 3 banners so quit crying.

Great blogging during this playoff run Bob..

First, F the spurs and their stupid fans.

Why should the mavs have an *? Your team got beat dumbass, so what does that say about them? Your spurs are done now, so go get your shine box. That's the most ignorant comment I've heard but shouldn't be surprising coming from a spurs fan.

Great game by the mavs, and so great to see them close a team out. That was a bad call at the end when the ball didn't hit the rim, but let's face it, the suns were not coming back. The offensive rebounding effort was tremendous by Dallas, and they earned it last night. Looking back, I'm glad that spurs series is over, b/c this one is making it a much easier road to the finals. The suns are clearly running out of gas having played in back to back 7 game series, and the mavs taking them out of their element.

    GO MAVS!!!

    BS (big smooth),

If you bothered to read the whole post (you might want to try starting with the part about trying to be classier than Spurs fan), I gave the Mavs their props. They are clearly the best team in the league and should cruise to the title.

It's a lot like the 2003 Spurs title. The Spurs beat their (then) nemesis Lakers in the 2nd round which was a HUGE mental hurdle. The WCF was made much easier by injury (Dirk's knee), and New Jersey was a yawner of the finals. This year is similar in that the Mavs face a depleted Suns team and will crush anyone who comes out of the east.

As long as Dirk stays healthy, you can start booking the parade.

Best of luck to the Mavs and their fans the rest of the way.....enjoy the ride.
