8:45 am: Given that I am midway through watching the 3rd Quarter of the Mavericks loss from last night, I am in no position to blog very well today. I apologize, and I don't make a habit of blowing this off, but with a Stars game, Mavericks game, and BaD Radio Reports to prepare, too, I guess the dog ate my homework and I am going to give you a bunch of excuses.
Rather then tell you about the Mavericks getting run in New Orleans, the Stars giving up a late goal to lose to Calgary, and many other exciting things, I will leave blogging up to you this morning in the comments section, or not at all.
I hope this doesn't prove to be the end of our relationship, and I promise to refund your subscription fees for the day.
I love you, please love me back-
Bob
I was just shocked on the 2nd Mavs possession when Dampier could not handle the Kidd pass.
ReplyDeleteIf the Mavs don't get a quality big man today they have no shot of coming out of the West. Gasol, Shaq, Amare, Duncan, and Ming will eat their lunch. Worried for Mavs, happy for my Rockets.
Hey you forgot about the Suns/Lakers game. There was way too much going on last night and it was wonderful.
ReplyDeleteWow..I almost forgot the replay on the golf chanel. Did Tiger rally or what?
6 turnovers! I don't want to make a big deal about it but is that normal for a PG to do with a new team?
ReplyDeleteDon't look now, but the Spurs traded for Kurt Thomas yesterday, so there went one more decent big man that Dallas could have had and desperately needs.
ReplyDeleteI think that will probably be the last pass to Damp from Kidd. It doesnt take very long to realize that he has the worst hands in the league and is a huge pu$$y that likes layups.
ReplyDeleteDid anybody notice that Paul wasnt even guarding Kidd in the 2nd half. They would run the pick and roll and then Paul would sag back about 5 feet to help out with Dirk, meanwhile Kidd is standing at the top of the key with the rock and nobody close to him. He is scared to shoot the ball! Kidd cannot play the offense that the Mavs are rolling out. He can only flourish in the motion offense with screens and back cuts. This is not going to work.
There wasn't a lot to like last night. I anticipated Josh making the big leap during the new regime, but he's obviously not well. Kidd proved that our fears about his ability to guard smaller 1s were substantiated. And if we start playing Malik Allen at the 5 (or even worse-giving Dirk minutes there) my anger will be monumental.
ReplyDeleteI'll reserve judgment for a few games into this deal, especially on the offensive end of things. The age factor and being able to guard people does worry me though. We'll see.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, the big man thing is what's most frightening to me. Giving up Diop was bad. He's better than Damp. The Thomas thing does sting. We'll see how it all plays out I guess.
I know this is off the radar now but it should be brought back. I am PISSED... I just found out DishNetwork has removed the NFL channel off the basic service. If I want the channel, I will have to pay $13 more. Last year, Jerry and the NFL were fighting cable companies because they were doing what Dish has now chosen to do. If anyone has Jerry's or Sheriff Goodell's email address, please post it.
ReplyDeleteI'm not worried. Kidd got to Dallas less than 48 hours ago.
ReplyDeletedirty mavs
Call Kevin McHale today, offer him Dirk for Jefferson. I'm pretty sure he couldn't resist the lure of the white prize. Jefferson is a better interior defender then Irk (that's right, no D) and he's younger and tougher. Then maybe Josh gets the message and starts slashing again.
ReplyDeleteThe Mavs would be legit with a Real big man, an athletic 3, and a HOF pg.
1)J-Kidd had been a Mav for about 30 hours prior to last night's game. let's give him just a little more time before we determine that he can't hang.
ReplyDelete2)Josh is still recovering from a back injury. Cut him a little slack.
3)The Spurs acquired Thomas just to keep him out of a Mavs jersey. It really doesn't make them any better, it just limits the Mavs choices which were bad to begin with.
4)Why couldn't I find last night's game in HD?

Hope everyone's boys feel better after that double groin kick last night.
ReplyDeleteTapping the brakes on the Kidd is bad for Dallas talk. Sad to say but it doesn't look like the little Mavericks year. Can we have the mayor setup a parade route?
2009?
Vote "None of the Above"
In being fair to Kidd, Paul did hang 33 on Harris a few weeks ago. I am more worried about his offense. Is it too much to ask for a 35 year old to develop a jumper in this stage of his career. Dirk was playing inspired last night, you could tell he was trying to carry this team to a W. He just didnt have any help.
ReplyDeleteJake, that picture on blogger thing scares me very much.
kurt thomas sucks. no worries there.
ReplyDeletehmm, ok time to blog..
ReplyDeleteCan we trade kidd back?
Actually um I watched the Laker game and them Lakers are good. And actually the Suns are too...actually so it like 90% of the west, geese. OK I wouldn't get your hopes up Mavs fans..
Come hang out with the Ticket's own BaD Radio forum moderators at the BaD Radio Forums. We're discussing Mavs/Stars/Rangers there.
ReplyDeleteFor my blogging:
Here is a promo video for tonight's episode of Survivor.

FS - worst hands and a pu$$y? How dare you say that about the second best center in the league!
ReplyDeleteif i can go against the grain and talk stars...i was in the aac last night, and cujo was a beast for the flames. the stars peppered him pretty well and he stopped damn near everything.
ReplyDeleteNo you may not. Back to Mavricks panic talk, everyone!
ReplyDeleteLast night showed that the Stars need to make a move before the deadline. They need someone that can actually put the puck in the net. They will be one and done if they can't do that.
ReplyDeleteWelcome, knee-jerking Mavs fans!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is Fake Sturm's pronouncement that "This is not going to work."
After ONE freaking game.
I'm going to assume Fake Sturm is NOT, in fact, an NBA General Manager, so he just might be another spare white fan who hasn't played in the NBA nor been involved with an NBA front office and probably shouldn't make quick dismissals like this.
While there's very little to like about last night's loss, they were playing against a very good team - one, in fact, that has the best record in the West. Chris Paul is great, man, and torches many a point guard, young and old.
The Kidd deal is supposed to make the Mavs better at playoff time, when they need a guy to man up and lead at crunch time. Just because Kidd was tentative outside in his first game with a brand new team, after one practice, doesn't mean squat in the playoffs, after he's had some time to gel with these guys. Just because the Hornets hit the century mark in February may also not mean squat in the playoffs. (Footnote: see Dallas Mavericks, 2006-2007; and Seattle Supersoncs, 1993-94)
Step off the ledge, everyone. It's one game.
As for Kurt Thomas, he was in DAL a decade ago, and the Mavs dealt him after he lasted all of 5 games before getting injured. The guy's serviceable, but there are others like him that may come available.
Sir! I believe Fake Sturm is a brother. Which makes him imminently qualified. (Footnote: see Thomas, Isiah).
ReplyDeleteNothing to see here, folks. Please step back out on the ledge and commence to jumping.
Thanks cracker, and yes I am a brother. Just because Bob is my leader you assume that I am white with generic white guy business job. Actually Ponce, I gave my HSOs why this would not work, because it is the wrong freaking offense for JKidd. I think it was a horrible move and the Mavs are now probably the 5th or 6th best team in the West. And yes, I did play in the league for a short stint back in '03, a swingman for the Raptors.
ReplyDeleteFor true, Fake Sturm? 'Cause I'm fixin' to go google for t-sip Raptors from '03...
ReplyDeleteOk, Greg Foster/Antonio Davis, the jig is up. You should be rootin' for the Miners, not the sips. Bandwagoner...
