Penalties. One tangible department to look at a team that may or may not be disciplined. We have documented for you how this was not a problem of much substance with Bill Parcells as the coach. Then it became a major issue for the team with Wade Phillips in charge. Now it is Jason Garrett's turn.
Does he have the time to instill a sense with his players that silliness will not be tolerated? And that poor technique must be limited? Honestly, it would be foolish to expect a remarkable difference when the same players are in the uniform, but I will be interested to see.
Over the last few weeks, Dallas has actually shown improvement and fallen to 7th in accepted penalties and 8th in accepted penalty yardage against. But, Top 10 in both categories is par for the Wade Phillips course.

Totals for : 7 Penalties, with 5 accepted for a total of 40 yards. The offense managed to not commit a single penalty (so they have that going for them - which is nice). After no penalties against the Defense or Special Teams against Jacksonville, both were busy on Sunday Night with the Defense being called for 5, and Special Teams 2.
Worst Offender: Terence Newman, who had not been called for a single penalty all season, was flagged twice (although the illegal kicking penalty was a new one) and Josh Brent managed 2 on the same play.

The secondary is certainly becoming an issue in this department as well. The blown coverages and the poor tackling combined with flags each week make this a portion of the team that is under a constant spotlight - and rightfully so.
