Josh Howard is back: 15 points, 18 rebounds
Dirk: 29 and 13
Mavericks: 7 blocks
Things I really didn’t like about Mavericks – Suns last night:
Another Mavericks injury (although likely not too serious) as Marquis leaves the game.
Mavericks FT’s: 18-32 56.3% - this almost got them beat.
But we should remember that this is a very fine Mavericks team, and they appear to be on the right track. Now, back to Josh Howard.
Despite the fact that I have reprinted this already, here it is again from the Nov 1st blog entry:
Josh Howard: During those playoffs last year, he demonstrated that he is continuing to improve to a point where you now clearly know who is the 2nd best player on this team. Added responsibility and soon added cash will raise the bar for Howard, but I think he is surely up for it. I am a big fan.
The reason I keep reprinting it was because I was ahead of my time, I believe, based on the feedback I got the day I wrote it. But, I double stand behind it. And, I want full credit! Actually, I thought it was obvious at the time.
Mavs beat Phoenix again …
Meanwhile, Stars daydream, spot Sabres a nice lead and fall short in the end …Ottawa tonight = must see TV…
Dallas is 0-for-4 in Buffalo since Brett Hull's Game 6 goal clinched the Stanley Cup in 1999.
The Stars seemed confused, especially in their end, in the first period and a half Wednesday. They were unable to clear pucks and avoid dangerous turnovers. They couldn't get their transition game going, struggling to make crisp passes through the neutral zone to create scoring chances. They weren't in the right position, suffering from mental lapses.
And they were not the aggressors. That role belonged to Buffalo, which looked fired up in front of 16,575 fans, including former President Bill Clinton and Irish tenor Ronan Tynan, of Yankee Stadium fame, who sang "God Bless America" and a few holiday hits.
Wow, Clinton was at the game? That begs the question, Why?
Celina on the brink of another title …
Celina can now focus on winning a state championship. Saturday will mark Celina's first state championship game appearance since 2001 when it won the last of four straight state titles. Celina is aiming for its seventh state championship, which would tie Brownwood and Plano for the most in state history.
The last time Celina hoisted a state championship trophy, Ford was defensive coordinator.
Celina's 41-35 victory against Garrison for the 2001 Class 2A Division II championship in Waco was the last game G.A. Moore coached at Celina. Moore left for his third head coaching stint at Pilot Point afterward, and Ford was promoted as the head coach in the spring of 2002.
Ford coached under Moore for 25 years and won seven state championships (five at Celina and two at Pilot Point).
Revo Says Artest could be the title key …But since Avery said “no chance” yesterday, I don’t really have the energy to discuss…
I know that you have been emailed this by now, but for those who haven’t here are the Sportsbybrooks website picture Here …and the story that explains them follow:
Matt Leinart's Big Post-Heisman NYC Adventure
Quick story you guys might enjoy. Went to a party at [name redacted] on Saturday night. About 20 people. Half of us went to some random bar, the other half went to this upscale place [in New York City] called Marquee. Anyways, these two pretty girls who were visiting from Texas went to Marquee.
So [Sunday] morning, my friend calls me and says “Do you know some guy named Matt Line Hart?” I laugh and say yeah and don’t bother to correct her. She says, well he was at Marquee last night, and hit on one of the girls from texas all night, danced with her, and then was so drunk he groped her … she turned around and slapped him, and left.
I said yea yea, i doubt it even though it kinda made sense that he would be in an upscale club getting trashed after losing the heisman. i told her i’d believe the story when i saw pictures.
wellll, here they are
McNabb vs. NAACP dude …wow, things are never boring in Philly…
And now, a note or two about vacation plans:
BaD Radio is on vacation from now until December 26th. When we return on the 27th, we are covering the Hardline shift (3-7) until January 4th (I think). Durng this time on vacation, I plan to continue blogging. It may be shorter, and it may not always hit at 9am, but I am covering it for a while, and then Ty Walker will stand in for me when I travel to the land of dial-up.
Anyway, keep checking in, and enjoy Christmas. In fact, watch Christmas Vacation.
come on Bob... no V Young greatness today?

the side arm action even matches...
The only thing noteworthy about that Leinart pic is that there aren't more of them floating around out there. Remember, he gave up millions of dollars this year so he could keep partying like this.
ReplyDeleteyeah, because once you're a professional athlete, you can't party like that anymore
ReplyDeleteWhat's less creepy, though: Matt Leinart partying with hot younger girls, or Mark Chmura?
ReplyDeleteI just hope he keeps on doing more partying and banging hot girls up thru January 4th than he does preparing for the big game.
ReplyDeleteAs an aside, Chip Brown says that VY and Leinart hit it off at the Heisman awards in NYC last weekend, but that he and Reggie Bush definitely didn't. Bush does come off as being quite the head case. I just hope the Houston Texans are ready to deal with his ego...
Leinart lives with Lachey? Is this true?
ReplyDeleteIf so thats the gayest thing I have ever heard.

"VY and Leinart hit it off at the Heisman awards in NYC last weekend, but that he and Reggie Bush definitely didn't."
ReplyDeleteGee, I wonder why? Because Vince almost cried when he lost the Heisman? I loved Bush's quote, when asked what he thought about Vince being devastated: "That's not really my problem."
You'd think that VY would be more concerned about winning the national championship than not winning a personal trophy.
Anon at 11:25,
ReplyDeleteIf VY is pissed, you say he should be more concerned with the Nat Champ. than a personal trophy. When did he say that was more important than the national championship? Never. Idiot.
And if he acted like he didn't care about losing the Heisman, he would be ripped for not caring.
Be a man and put your name on your comment you moron.
VY always plays better when he feels like he has something to prove. This is just another instance of Vince throwing more fuel on his own fire. Watch for him to come out like a man on a mission January 4th.
ReplyDeleteVince never said he put the Heisman ahead of the Rose Bowl game, he simply said he wanted to also use the game now as an opportunity to prove everyone wrong that doubts him. I wouldn't call that crying about it.
ReplyDeleteAll I know is that he didn't need any more motivation for January 4th, but now he's got it. And the fact that Bush was arrogant about winning the Heisman probably makes him all the more motivated to win the game. Even Leinart himself said Bush still has some growing up to do.
I love the quotes by V Young after the Heisman. It just shows what class he has saying how disappointed he was that he couldn't bring this home for his teammates, the University, and his fans.
ReplyDeleteBut good informative post anonymous aggy. By the way, how is the offseason going?

ReplyDeleteGood lord what an egomaniac. You thought Josh Howard was the 2nd best player on the Mavs? SHOCKING! So Did every other guy with a TV who watches the Mavs regularly. Sturm you act as if the hole Metroplex was against you on that? Everyone on any Mav Message Board is laughing at you.
