Football 301 - Sacks and Targets - Week 12

The offense looked explosive on Thanksgiving Day. The Cowboys must be wondering, "Can we play the Raiders every week?" Where did Tony go with the ball? And, Who gave up his first sack of the season? Read on...

A thing of beauty on Thursday, with mismatches all over the secondary. Witten broke out for his biggest game of the season, and Miles Austin had a 3rd monster game of the season. Remarkable player. Slow day for Crayton and Roy (again) and it looked like the Cowboys are making an effort to utilize Felix as a pass-catcher, although they still haven't quite figured that one out.

Miles Austin is a beast. It had to be said.

Wow. That was lousy. I didn't realize their 3rd Down passing was quite this bad, but it was. The Cowboys were 4-12 on 3rd downs, but 3-3 when they ran it. 1-9 on the passes, including a sack. Just 1 First Down to Miles Austin against a 3rd Down Defense, and this on the heels of the very poor efforts against Green Bay and Washington. Hmmm.

SACKS

Sack #1 - 2Q - 3/6/26 - S12 Sack Scott

What Happened OK, this is about who is the official scorer. At Bob's Blog, I am. So, despite the fact that Flozell Adams' man actually gets the sack here 91 Trevor Scott, this is clearly a sack that I am charging to Leonard Davis for the complete miss on 61 Gerard Warren. Cut and dried. Davis was beat badly here. Adams was fine with his block, I believe. Arguments?

-----------------------------------------
Sack #2 - 3Q - 2/10/42 12 Sack Scott

What Happened Doug Free beaten around the corner. Free is thought of as a guy who has good quickness, but the players in the NFL are very, very fast. Trevor Scott explodes around the corner in a way you don't want to see happen very often. Another clear defeat that gets your QB hit.

The Rankings so far in Sacks Allowed among the OL: Adams - 6, Davis - 4, Gurode - 2, Colombo - 2, Kosier - 1, Free - 1.
