BaD Radio - Recap - 5/16/11

Monday 5/16/11

Location: Studio

The Mix: Norm’s MCing some event.

The Open: “I had no idea you could test positive for Cialis.” With the Western Conference Finals set and all games starting at 8, Dan is worried that he will not be able to take his daughter to such a late game. Tyson Chandler went to high school in Compton, Bob is familiar with the worst places in Dallas, the cops didn’t give him a Teflon vest when he went on a ride-along. It was a weird segment.

12:40 – Rangers Talk: The Rangers won their first series in awhile, taking 2 of 3 from the Angels. The Rangers are putting out a piecemeal lineup right now, hoping that they can tread water until they get Hamilton and Cruz back in the lineup. They seem to be doing that. Neftali now has 19 straight saves, going back to last year but Bob wonders why his velocity is down just a bit. Maybe they’re babying him or maybe it’s something to pay attention to.

12:55 – Baseball: Jim Knox was in full form yesterday. He interviewed some Japanese people and they pulled a bit on him and made him talk to the one who spoke the least amount of English. He then interviewed some of the 7,500 Little League teams at the ballpark and talked about Andre Beltre. Sarah Silverman was in the booth for the FOX primetime game. She said that being a Red Sox fans is about being a loser and winning the World Series in 2004 was bittersweet. She then says that Red Sox fans are Massholes, it got dumped by the FOX broadcast. She thinks that LSD should be used as a treat for MLB pitchers. Joe Buck shoots that down quick.

1:20 – NBA Talk: Yesterday, the Thunder put a beatdown on the Grizzlies in Game 7. This led to the crowd yelling “We want Dallas”. Which is who they’ll get because that’s how the playoffs work. Now the conversation revolves around Dallas and OKC. What’s up with Westbrook’s glasses, why does Durant wear a backpack to all press conferences, is Harden’s power stored in his Bee-beard? These are the important questions.

1:40 – Shawn Marion: The Mavericks small forward joins BaD Radio on the phone and starts off by saying they’ve been rationing their hard practices with rest during this 8 day wait. On Twitter, Bob has noticed Marion’s extensive wardrobe, his plethora of socks and his bowling game. He bowled a 183. He says that the Mavs aren’t looking at this series like they are the favorites, unlike the media. He says, regardless of whom it was, it was fun to go out and sweep the Lakers.

2:00 – Basketball: Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals was last night and the Bulls trounced the Heat by 20. Bob’s thoughts, if the Mavs make it to the Finals it would be sweeter to beat the Heat but it would hurt even more to lose to the Heat. The Heat de-activated Ilgauskas and Dampier last night and got destroyed on the boards. The Bulls provide tremendous matchup problems for the Heat. The Bulls bench outplayed the Heat bench, hands down.

2:20 – Dan Tweets: Dan reads a lot of his tweets that he’s sent out during the last Mavs game. He brings Lisa, from the front desk, in to read Dan’s Top Ten Tweets. A la David Letterman. Check him out @bracketdan

2:40 – I missed this segment.

3:00 – WTDS: On this day in 1771 Marie Antoinette got married, she was 14. Happy Birthday to Jack Morris, Rick Russell, Rick Rhoden, Gabriella Sabatini, Thurman Thomas, Big Slippery White Butts, Pierce Brosnan, Megan Fox, Roger Earl, Janet Jackson, Tori Spelling and Debra Winger. Spares include John Salley and Sammy Smith. RIP Liberace, Billy Martin, Andy Kaufman.

Listen to BaD Radio everyday from 12 – 3pm on Sports Radio 1310 The Ticket. I do, and I has opulence.
