Trevon Diggs allows a lot of yards, but creates turnovers. Is an extension guaranteed?

Every week until the regular season, this series will put the spotlight on a key, but not fully established Cowboys player who is still on his way to his finished form. It will try to examine where his journey has gone so far, where 2022 might take him and beyond. Last week in this series, we profiled the case of Dalton Schultz. Schultz has a much more complex case to consider when you look at his franchise tag designation and the big bucks that go with it.

The end of Jaylon Smith with the Cowboys and the current star status of Trevon Diggs: Quinn Report

We had our plans for this defensive review piece until the news broke Tuesday night that the Cowboys finally decided that the Jaylon Smith era has come to a close.

In the interest of touching both ideas properly, allow me to give you initial thoughts on the release of Smith and then try to review the Carolina game as best we can in our allotted space.

Cowboys CB Trevon Diggs has outperformed his draft class with huge splash plays: Quinn Report

Most players look for a reason to feel doubted. It stokes the fire and probably gives them a fire in their belly when they need a reason to train for hours in the middle of the offseason.

“Nobody believed in me,” is a phrase we hear in many championship interviews where someone tells us that even though they were selected pretty high in the NFL draft, because they were not picked even higher — they didn’t have enough “believers.”

Breaking down Cowboys’ 2020 NFL Draft class, from Lamb and Diggs to DiNucci

The Cowboys will need to make quite a few strong picks in the 2021 NFL Draft to reinforce a roster that needs a substantial defensive makeover. But before we look forward, I want to close the book on the rookie class that came before them.

Cowboys' Trevon Diggs could be a huge building block: The Nolan Report

The Cowboys defense played easily its finest game of the season on Sunday night. The most compelling evidence would be finding four takeaways after the first seven games produced just three. As we know, some of that (or maybe even most of that) is due to the opponent’s willingness to risk the ball. And the Eagles have been as generous as any offense besides Dallas this year. Did Dallas make plays or did the Eagles repeatedly make mistakes? In this case, both.
