Rangers bullpen blow the opener …
Among the lingering questions:
•What in tarnation is up with the bullpen? Monday, the Rangers took a four-run lead to the seventh and lost. They blew a five-run lead Sunday before rallying to win. In seven games, the Rangers have blown five saves.
•Can the offense score without a home run? Hank Blalock and Richard Hidalgo each hit two-run homers in the ninth inning of Saturday's comeback win. David Dellucci had a two-run homer in the seventh Sunday. Over the final three innings Monday, the Rangers struck out five times when all they needed was a run.
•Are the starters star-crossed? Kenny Rogers pitched seven innings for the team's fourth quality start, but the rotation has yet to win a game.

Masters Ratings return to Tiger heights …
The network's overnight ratings for coverage of Sunday's final round were a 10.3 with a 21 share. That was up 41 percent from Phil Mickelson's thrilling victory last year (7.3 with an 18) and the highest since Woods' last victory at Augusta in 2001 (12.9 with a 27 share), when he became the first golfer to hold all four major titles at the same time.
Mavs win again at home …
Avery Johnson said the Mavericks regained some swagger at home during the last week, but it goes back further. They are 7-0 at home since Johnson replaced Don Nelson.

The Fort Worth Brahmas will be conducting an online auction of their 2004-2005 game worn black road jerseys. The online auction will take place on the Brahmas official team website, www.brahmas.com.
The black jerseys feature a purple stripe trimmed in green and white that runs across the upper back of the jersey down each sleeve. The back and sleeve jersey numbers are white with green trim. The nameplates on the jerseys are in white lettering. On the front of the jerseys, the words “FORT WORTH” are spelled out in diagonal fashion running from the right chest to the left waist. Age Restrictions in the NBA? Jermaine O’Neal is not happy …
"As a black guy, you kind of think [race is] the reason why it's coming up.
"You don't hear about it in baseball or hockey. To say you have to be 20, 21 to get in the league, it's unconstitutional. If I can go to the U.S. Army and fight the war at 18 why can't you play basketball for 48 minutes?" O'Neal said.

Spurs fan reviews the AAC ...
From the mic'd rims to the plastic clappers given free with every seat, watching a Mavs game live is the equivalent of watching basketball on television while someone pokes your forehead with their finger repeatedly for 2 and a half hours. Known as the AAC, it seems to be a laboratory for ADD. It's as though they set it up to distract as many people from the actual game as possible, which is curious since the Mavs are actually a good team and entertaining in their own right.
You have movie clips (sponsored, of course, by Blockbuster) during the game, sound effects, and the most obnoxious PA announcer in the history of human competition (imagine a Texas A&M Yell Leader with a microphone). The only time he stops talking long enough to take a breath is when he announces a player on the opposing team... I'm convinced he is actually inhaling as he reads their name when they make a basket or substitution.
Fans lucky enough to arrive early enough are treated to the emcee stylings of Chris Arnold, who is basically Stuart Scott without the journalistic talent. Once he's done pimping the latest Mavs gear, fans can look out for one of the 800 carnies throwing frisbees, slinging T-shirts, tossing basketballs or hyping up the crowd. It's enough to make you wish they would just show the commercials from the TV broadcast during timeouts. The costumed stunt dunker (MavsMan) seems like a welcome return to classic basketball normalsy by comparison. They have a drum line. They have dancing fat guys.

Who could have guessed how bad (overworked?) our bullpen is only 7 games into the season. If we don't get Carlos and Frankie back soon, we are in serious trouble.
F the spurs and their fans. That is all.
and F Jr. Miller too...
I always thought Stuart Scott was Stuart Scott without journalist talent.
R A Dickey would be a nice addition to the waiver wire
I agree w/ the Spurs fan and Jr Miller. Mavs games are a beating.
i'm a die hard mavs fan, but i have to agree with the guys assessment of the aac experience during a mavs game. it is way to much of a beating. however, the aac is still better then the sbc center or whatever its called in san antonio. f the spurs....
I know it's only been 7 games, but ya' think Jason Giambi is the same player he was 2 years ago or what!!!
What an idiot this Jermaine O'Neal. Just because he lucked out by being picked up by Indiana after averaging 0,0 and 0 for 4 years in Portland making 10 mil$. How about the hundrets of kids that drop out of school, aren't good enough and maybe end up playing in Estonia or Turkey for 10 years, barely making enough to live who leave the game with no future. Sure it's a race thing. Stern is trying to save these poor kids that surround themselves with bad people (agents). I mean...you can be politically correct or you can face reality and do something about it.
Lets take Jermaine to Jasper Texas and show him what racism really means. I bet the man's family that was dragged behind the pick up truck has a different definition.
Was I the only one watching the Jazz/Mavs game thanking *insert all-supreme diety of your choice here* that Kevin McCarthy made a glorious return to the PA?
Billy Hayes sounds like he's practicing whale mating calls whenever Dirk hits a trey...what a beating he is.
Mavs games are a beating.
MARK! Chill all of the pinball machine stuff!
Couldn't agree more with the AAC assessment. I only go if I'm given free tickets. Usually by the end of the 3rd quarter I'm sick of it and leave.
The Mavs and the AAC rule. Without question, the Mavs are the best ticket in town. It's too bad the cocaine and boob-job stuck-up so-called fans get free tickets to the game and then post their idiotic comments. Cuban has it right - he has to provide all the extra entertainment to keep the plastic zombies' attention. Attending a Mavs game is way more fun than a Cowboys or Rangers game. Oh yeah, F the Spurs. I've been to the SBC center....who builds suites that have no view of the court?
Hey Anonymous,
Believe me, I am nowhere near the coke and boob job crowd. But I'm not going to waste my money to not even be able to pay attention to the game. If you enjoy watching lights and trying to catch tshirts, then the AAC is for you. But if you actually want to watch and enjoy the Mavs and a basketball game, staying home is the way to go. The AAC environment would make for a great SNL sketch.
And Anonymous,
I was wearing Mavs t-shirts and sweaters during the 9-73 years, so F yourself jackass.
