All Growns Up.
I am not sure about you, but I am pretty proud of these boys right about now.
No fishing here.

The first, and most certainly not the last to say congrats to Avery and the boys. Certainly all growns up tonight. I hope Stern watched the travisty that almost took place with those refs... Not to sound like a Spurs (markcubanvoice) believer or anything, but co'mon!!! Next time, just give it to the Spurs.... Babyarm, and LET"S GO MAVS!!!!
suicide canceled.
Huh.
DallasManU fan said in the last blog.. Dirk needed 38 and 12... he got 37 and 15... Not bad.
Go Mamricks.
Dirk made the biggest play in the history of the franchise with that three-point play. 37 points and 15 rebounds. That was a grown-ass man effort.
Oh. I'm totally drained. Dirk is such a stud.
I believe we can stomp the hell of the term "Soft" now. Dirk carries his team on his back to tie the game at the end of regulation. Timmy Duncan whines at 00:00 because he wants a cheap foul call on a wheels-off scramble beneath the basket.
So who's "soft," and who is a freakin' STUD?
Who else loved seeing the Spurs fans leave with 2:00 minutes to go in overtime?
I can't believe this.
Luis, how you feeling little bro.
"He good"
-All Spurs Defenders on Dirk
omg what a game and I feel so drained. sad thing is that I work in Korea so I have to go to work today. I feel so out of it, but Man it feels so good.
Any Spurs fan that wants to complain about the officials - I'm with them. The Mavs got absolutely no calls in the second half and the Spurs got everyone of them. The foul differential was horrendous to be sure.
Everybody is going to do fun stuff to their wives tonight!!!
I was in the house for all three home games in the Mavs - Lakers series in the 1988 WCF and as much as that was awesome, this is great! Watching Dirk grow up right in front of our eyes was amazing. 37/15 is a ridiculous night. I had to miss the 1st and 2nd and had to listen to the 3rd on the radio and I swear Dirk got every rebound in the 3rd. And in the 4th, Dirk looked a little sluggish but then I realized that as awesome as he is, you tend to get sluggish when you carry the 11 other guys on your team every time you drive to the hole. And oh yeah, the hopes of all Mavs fans.
What a freaking stud and yes, I believe that 3 point play at the end of the 4th may end up being at this point, the biggest play in Mavericks history.
Do we get home court even if the Suns win now? I'm wondering if it's like in the 1st round, when even though the Clippers were the lower seed, they had home court. Does anyone know??? How great would that be to have the home court this time against the Suns or Clips!
Lets go Mavs!!!
I have never been so damn nervous in my life. I took off my shirt in the 4th when SA was coming back and ripped the tag off my shorts...and IT WORKED! You all can thank me later for changing the mojo of the game.
Time to fill up the mysa.com message boards and gloat!!!
rajajiv,
Take it all in. You deserve it. Yes, we will get home-court in any series except against the Pistons.
As a Dallas Stars fan and season ticket holder...
And as one who has been to over 400 Stars games since 1993, while attending exactly ONE Mavericks game in person in that same time frame (and leaving it during the 4th quarter)...
And as one who doesn't give a rip-roarin' damn about basketball in any form, let me just say...
Go Mavericks.
That kind of performance could only be turned in by a team with big brass ones. Easily one of the biggest wins in franchise history.
And the mental edge that ONE win like this gives a team is something that can win you a championship. (Like the Stars vs. Avalanche - 1999 - Game 6 in Denver. Won an elimination game in a hostile environment, and it propelled them forward to the Stanley Cup.)
Congratulations to the Mavericks and all their good sweet clean fans. It's been a long time coming for you.
And my arse is firmly planted on the bandwagon the rest of the way.
Wow, I'm spent. I need a smoke.
Do y'all smell that? That's the smell of good times.
Where's our little buddy, Luis?
Dirk was a warrior tonight...A WARRIOR!!! Took it to another level
F-Big Dick Bavetta
Sorry it's taken me so long to post guys, but i was having celebratory gay man love. Thanks for the kind thoughts. Gotta shower with anti-bacterial soap
Dirk is without question, a GROWN ASS MAN.
Everyone stepped up in OT. Thank God Ginobli didn't bury one on us late in OT.
Dirk is the MVP of the playoffs now. Let's keep the momentum going onto the Finals.
Hey, little champion! I love thee Dirk!
hell yeah!
that's all...
Arthur
What a freaking series this was...
Happy retirement Mr. Baveta.
Sturm and Dudes, AWESOME picture of the biggest play of the game:

You can thank me later.
One of the best results of this game is the fact that we don't have to hear the Spurs PA guy and their PR guy (Barkley) shout "GINOBLI!" until the fall.
If you thought Barkley was bad during this series, wait til the Suns series.
"The Mavericks won't prove nothing til they beat the Spurs in the playoffs"
-Barkley
I'm so gay for Dirk right now. I need some Jergens.
wow...as a mavs fan as long as i can remember, i had tears in my eyes as that game ended. this was a long time coming and dallas, you just may have an nba championship team in front of you. it's just the second round and we still have phoenix to play and possibly detroit, WE FINALLY BEAT THE SPURS!!!!! savor this one, we still have a tough road ahead!
Bob, think you can bust off a telephone call to Rick Barry tomorrow? You need to ask him about his son's 0 points and 1 rebound tonight. He was awesome.
Steve,
Great picture of Dirk's amazing 3-point play. Unbelievable game!
Pick a hole on your wife and go to town!!
Still Drunk.....but made it to work......Go Mavwicks......
Luis---today is definately your day to take the day off!!!!!
By the way...go Mavwicks (Bama?)...kinda sounds the same on the drop.
No Rangers talk for at least another 10 days!!!
On a very serious note, does this help SA get an NFL team?
my head HURTS!
Arthur
I watched the game at my hotel in Dusseldorf at 2am! The bartender left on the big screen so I could watch it.
The last thing I want is for Barkley to get on our bandwagon now.
I thought I was going to throw up in the mid 4th, Thank you Dirk. For the first time I felt a little bad for the spares fan, having to watch Cuban (only because he actually beat me down somewhat after the game).
Mavs in 5 over the Suns.
Where are the dang Anonymous SA posters?
Coffee kicking in....please more Coffee.
big props to Diop by the way
As a Spurs fan, all I can say is congratulations. Helluva series.
While I'm very dissapointed we didn't pull it out, I'm a firm believer in Bill Simmons' '5-Year theory' (i.e., you can't be too dissapointed or complain within 5 seasons of winning a title). Plus, even though Cuban acts like an azzclown, Dirk is a friggin MAN and Avery can coach his butt off.
Best of luck to the Mavs the rest of playoffs. Looking forward to this rivalry and getting some sweet revenge next season.
(PS - Sorry it wasn't as bitter as some of you probably expect from Spurs fans, let me know if you want me to rewrite it)
SPITTIN' YO BONES OUT SAN ANTONIO!!!
Ed, that was completely unacceptable. If you're going to keep up the SA fan average, you need to include at least 3 "what-if"s, 2 complaints about the officiating, and 1 or more references to the "three rings".
Avery figured out the secret to Diop: rest him all game then have him play 5 minutes against an exhausted Duncan. Diop looked like a freakin' all-star out there during OT.
Dirk is a beast.
-JB
As a lifelong Mavs fan who cut his basketball teeth taking in 20+ games a year at Old Reunion for $5 in the Darren Morningstar/Mike Izzulino days, this is truly one of the/if not THE happiest moment of my sports life (the second being when they beat Utah the first time they made the playoffs during this current stretch). Even my non-sports wife and I had this dialogue when Duncan fouled Howard early in the 4th:
Wife: "I'm no basketball genius, but isn't that a foul?"
Me: "Yep. For the last time, shut up."
Wife: "Then why is that guy (Duncan) bitching so hard? He hit him pretty good."
Me: "Because that's what the Sperms do."
I arrested a guy with a Sperms shirt on last night for DUI. After I got done booking him into jail, I told him I'm a Mavs fan. Funny how the best day of my life was the worst day of his. Have fun in jail. F the Sperms.
(yawn)This series has me as spent as a baby-making weekend. But finally, the deed is done. Congratulations on the NBA championship. What? Still 2 more series? Everything else from here on out is anti-climatic. Now on to the Phoenix small-of-the back tour.
Congratulations Mavs fans! This was a great series between two great teams. But the better team won this series. It's hard for me to admit it but to win two games on the road and one in a game 7 proves that. Your team has the better players, better bench, better shooters, and better free throw shooters. Your team hit the big shots. Your team didn't make the stupid mistakes.
Hopefully we can do it again next year in the Western Conference Finals!
Go Suns Go! (you didn't expect me to root for you, did you?)
Rick,
If winning a semi-final game is the 'Best day of your life'......
JB,
I hate to admit it, but most Spurs fans don't deserve the team they have. Win with class, lose with class. You think they'd take a page from the coach and organization.
Either side could 'what if', but it would cheapen a classic series. (my only what if, was why would Manu foul on a shot in the paint and 3 point lead). But the bottom line is the better team won last night.
With the key players on both rosters being young, this rivalry is going to be great the next few years. Hopefully we can upgrade some of our aging bench with some athletic and versatile players...(Bonzi Wells - maybe????)
The Mavs have grown up from their Nellie-ball days and I think they earned a lot of respect around the country last night.
(BTW, this is a good time for the Mavs fans to drop the 'no respect' card. The Nellie Mavs were not respected. Come on, Raef, Bradley, Antoine Walker - no heart, no defense. This group is like a completely different franchise.)
Rick,
I was right there with you in the Morningstar/Izzulino/Hodge/Curcic era. Of course, so were a lot of these other posters.
But then again, they weren't right there when Jerrod Haggard tried out for the illustrious Cowboys and went 0-10 in basically every drill. He would have been prime early-90's Mavs material.
That's "Iuzzolino," boys.
you can Derelicht my balls, capitan.
