Tuesday, 8/15

With the Cowboys back at practice, the WR situation took a turn for the bizarre:

Parcells is so mad at Owens that he rips Glenn

Glenn's still receiving tough treatment from Parcells roughly 10 years later.
He got an earful from Parcells for missing practice Monday because of painful blisters on the bottom of his feet.

"He's definitely on me," Glenn said. "I can't have nothing wrong."

Meanwhile, receiver Terrell Owens hasn't practiced in 12 days because of a sore left hamstring and didn't get as much as a playful jab from Parcells.

"We need to see something here pretty soon," Parcells said. "That is the truth. We need to get him in the offense. He has missed a lot of work."

Owens said he's making progress. He did more rehab work Monday than any time since he first missed practice Aug. 3. But Owens would not put a timetable on his return, saying he's day-to-day. He missed the preseason opener Saturday and doesn't know if he will be ready for Monday's game against New Orleans.

"I feel better than I did last week," Owens said. "I am encouraged by what I have been able to do. But I don't want to jump out there because I am feeling good. It's still day-to-day. But I am looking to do more tomorrow."

Matt Mosely on the case

Several of you have contacted me about a conversation that Bill Parcells had with Terry Glenn before practice. I know it's been reported by The Ticket radio station that Parcells cussed out Glenn, who missed his second practice of camp with blisters on his big toes.

I didn't witness the conversation, but our Todd Archer reports that it was definitely one-sided. Thanks to my friends at Fox 4, I just watched video of the conversation, and Glenn appeared to receive quite a tongue-lashing.

I'm not trained in the art of lip-reading, but I can recognize an expletive when I see one. Parcells dropped a couple on Glenn, but the conversation only lasted a couple of minutes.

What you should keep in mind, though, is that Glenn is one of Parcells' all-time favorite players, and those are often the ones he's hardest on. Just thought we'd cover the issue since several of you seemed concerned.

Galloway on QB stuff …hey, they sent him there, he has to stir up something, right?

Vikings lose 1st rounder Chad Greenway for the year ….

Moss returns and torches his old team

Randy Moss didn't torch the Vikings during the game. He did it afterward.
"To hell with them," he said.

He piped up with that right after saying he "wanted to come in and see the fans and give them something to really scream about because I've had my fun here in this Metrodome, and they've had theirs, too."

The only screaming for Moss came during Monday night's pregame introductions. He got what he often got during his tenure with the Vikings. A big cheer.

"It makes me feel good to know that I'm still loved here (despite) the bad blood that kind of spilled when I left," Moss said.

This will be his second season with the Oakland Raiders, but you can tell it still gnaws at his innards that the Vikings traded him.

"From an organization standpoint, I had no care, no feelings, nothing for the Vikings organization. What they did is what they did," he said after his first game against the Vikings since being traded. "When the trade went down, there was a lot of smoke and air that couldn't be cleared up right away. There were a lot of people shying away from questions and answers. One thing I didn't have was an answer of why it happened. I kept asking why it happened, but I never got an answer."

Ink for the Ticket’s debut

Occasionally, it turns out, the class clown actually can grow up to be an outstanding citizen of the community.

Saturday night’s debut of KTCK-AM “The Ticket” as the radio flagship of the Cowboys proved that. For five hours, the Dallas sports-talk station’s famous and popular shtick was put on temporary hold, and a very professional broadcast was delivered.

No references to Bill Parcells as the “New Jersey Con Man” or the “Glorified Gym Teacher.” No Fake Jerry Jones. No flatulence sound effects.

The Ticket’s bow as the home of the Cowboys was straight down the middle, and surprisingly well-packaged.

The Bumper Dumper

After the discussions yesterday of Johnny Knoxville and Steve-O, we have been informed that the sequel is in the works

God I hate the "first" crap. I used to like to comment on here because everyone seemed like the kind of sport fans I hand with anyway. Now I'm a little ashamed to be on the same board with people that think typing "first" is clever.

While Bob is very knowledgeable he is not God....I don't think.

I bet Bob could ask a longer question than God though.

What if the "first" bit was good ol' Bob? Then it would be funny. Or would it?

The Rangers didn't lose last night.

Did this particular media outlet realize that Cowboys' broadcasts are network broadcasts and thus, it would be silly to expect fart drops?

Seems to me that the only thing that has changed from last season to this season is we don't have to change the dial from 1310 (after listening to the pre-game show) to K-Luv at kickoff.

Of course, I fell asleep during the 4th quarter and didn't get a chance to hear the post-game show. I'd assume that's been changed to fit the mold of the typical post-game show on the Cowboys radio network.

bob, i'll tell you what i told gordon. getting "inked" by the herald democrat (based in sherman/denison) is hardly worth mentioning. the democrat is benefitting more from you and gordon linking to their site, more than the ticket is benefitting from getting inked in their paper.

keep up the good work and maybe next week waco's tribune-herald will write about yall.

NBA Legend Barry Out At KNBR

NBA Hall of Famer and Bay Area hoops legend Rick Barry's five-year run as afternoon Sports Talk show host with KNBR San Francisco has come to an end. Although the move was sudden, Barry and KNBR management each say the split was amicable.

Barry commented, "I was always concerned that when you get new ownership, you never know what's going to happen."

KNBR was part of Susquehanna Radio, which was acquired this spring by Cumulus Media Partners.

Randy Galloway is such a blow-hard. I love that idiots like him will try to stir up a QB controversy when there's none there. Bledsoe is the unquestioned starter of this team save injury. And Galloway has already given up on this season in preseason saying this team isn't a superbowl contender. It's certainly not a rebuilding year. The Cowboys have been rebuilding since Aikman retired what like 7 years now?? I think everyone knows that the Cowboys have a window of 1-2 years to get this thing done with Bledsoe & TO here.

Jerry needs to be actively securing next years head coach and I don't think he is a member of this coaching staff.

Parcells is scared of Owens.

Did anyone else enjoy Kornheiser making Theisman look like a chump as much as I did? It was sheer greatness to finally hear somebody call Theisman on the stupid sh*t he blathers incessantly. I didn't like Kornheiser on the radio and I'm not a big fan of PTI(though it has its moments) but if he rails on Theisman every week, I'll watch MNF with glee.

Commenting "first" is not about being first or gay. It's about annoying people who can't overlook it. If it annoys you, then you sir, are a weenie.

It was probably gordo.

MNF was something I used to look forward to. This crew CAN't be the best the NFL has to offer, can it? I thought the broadcast was extremely boring, the game too.

Click on "Somebody Else" at the second post today, and it links to Gordon's website. I thought it was just him trying to draw people offsides.

MrSimic,

I for one am not annoyed by "first", but I am annoyed by the incessant whining about those who are annoyed by "first".

Oops, I am whining about being annoyed too. ah... er...

Please notify the list when Fat Boy is done.

Remember that show...Jake and the Fat Man? Jake was the African American "investigator" and the Fat Man was his mentor/boss/pimp?

Parcells and T.O. Jake = the Fat Man.

You're welcom Gordo.

Bob is scared of Gordo.

Anonymous said...

4 things.

Bob is not scared of Gordo farthead

The A's have won 13 of their last 15 games. Start looking forward to basketball season. The Rangers cant catch up

Galloway is a moron

Being first is gay. Who cares? Youre first on some dudes blog!!! Cool!!! Bob is not a celebrity. Hes a dude like you and me.

The ruling is in: claiming "first" (and all variants, e.g. "twelfth," etc.) is GAY.

cracker1743 said...

Posting "first", whining about people posting "first", claiming "first" and all variants as being gay...all of that is gay. Lighten up, Francis.

Jake and the Fat Man were two honkys. The Fat Man was the fat honky from Cannon in the 70s, a tv show that I grudgingly admit is evidence supporting Bob's assertion that said decade was ssssspare. Jake was a no-name skinny honky that passed into obscurity as well he should have.

A little note to those who find "First" annoying: congrats on working yourselves up into a frothy lather. You will now see "first" every day from now until eternity. Kind of like the bit your younger brother used to do..."I'm not touching you!" It isn't funny if it isn't bothersome. Go check out a freakng psychology class sometime, horses' asses. I think it's genius. FIRST FIRST FIRST FIRST FIRST! Maybe MrSimic's head will explode in anger and frustration.

Sounds like Galloway is continuing to "position himself" to help out the old radio show. How bad did his cranky old ass get beat by the Hardline again?

cracker1743 said...

dammit Bob, hurry up. You've got lots of people hitting the refresh key wanting to be "first" this morning.
