The Mix: “Is Danica Patrick the most overrated Sports Hot?” - Dan

The Open: “Stop Bogarting the fatty.” Danica Patrick and Denny Hamlin will join the show later on. Where’s Rich Phillips when you need him. A great Stars game last night was seen by very few because they got bumped to the Fox Sports Alternate Alternate Alternate Channel. Dan is calling for the ball; he’s always looking for a new restaurant and enjoys it when a new one opens up around his house. At a new pizza place, he notices that there is a little bit of idiocracy when it comes to flat-screens, game rooms and music blaring. “Do you like BJs” – Bob.

12:35 – Denny Hamlin: Going into the last race last year he was in first place in the standings, yet he failed to clinch the title. That finish has been a fueling agent for his races this year. He tore his ACL a year ago playing pick-up basketball, had surgery in April and was back racing a few weeks later. It was his left knee and that is his braking leg (they don’t use the right foot to brake like street drivers). In his contract there aren’t clauses saying you can’t do outside activities but they do ask that you limit the risk outside of racing. He knew LeBron was going to Miami because Michael Jordan told him while they were playing golf.

12:55 – What’s on My TiVo?: Dan has some ratings and Bob has a question, “Has American Idol’s ratings dropped since Simon Cowell left the show?” It hasn’t really dropped that much. Keeping with the ratings theme, the Super Bowl had 111 million viewers while the Oscars only had 37 million. Dan’s homework assignment to Bob, catch up on Lights Out. Dan just wants a show to talk about. It’s a ridiculous show. Bob watched Episode 2 of Chicago Code and he doesn’t think that it’s as bad as Dan initially described.

1:20 – NFL Lockout Talk: With the deadline quickly approaching for a new labor deal to be done, some news came out yesterday which is good news for fans wanting football next season. The owners, years ago, negotiated that they would get paid their TV money regardless of a lockout or not ($4.2 billion) Judge David Doty ruled that is illegal and will not allow the owners to collect that sum. Now the owners have something to lose. How this affects the new labor agreement, only time will tell.

2:20 – Danica Patrick: She’s racing in on the Nationwide Tour and Indy Car Series, so she has a full schedule again this year. She doesn’t remember Dan’s name and he nervously asks how long she’s been married. On being on tv talk shows, she says that there is always a pre-interview before you go on the show. As far as TV Commercials are concerned, when she’s reading the scripts she’ll say yes to the products and commercials that make sense. It usually takes her a day to film a commercial. She’s a good sport!

2:40 – Post-Danica Talk: Donovan notices that when Bob and Dan have a set of boobs in front of them, they bicker like brothers trying to attract the same girl. All the while, Killer is bright red because Danica thinks that his radio name is Horn Dog. Bob’s first day at the Ticket he was pitched a hair transplant. He said, “No”. Let’s get on track with the Mavericks. Tyson Chandler sprained his ankle last night but it’s being reported that it’s not serious. The Mavs championship run this year hinges very strongly on Tyson Chandler’s health and defensive presence.

3:00 – WTDS: Corby is back. On this day in 1861, Texas seceded from the Union and joined the Confederate. Happy Birthday to Ron Gant, Pete Johnson, Bill Maas, Ben Roethlisberger, John Bon Jovi, Ian Woosnam and Chris Martin.

The Mix: Dan tried to prank Norm by setting the alarm on his phone for 1:00am, it failed. Norm wasn’t born yesterday, but there isn’t any evidence to prove that he wasn’t born in a barn or at night.

The Open: In ever, Jerry…in ever. It’s being reported that 50,000 to 100,000 prostitutes could be in Dallas for Super Bowl week; so who are you really renting out your house to? Make sure you get some new sheets.

12:35 – NFL Talk: Dan had the Packers/Bears final score told to him by the pizza guy before he was able to finish the game; another Dan Game Delay Backfire. More on (moron?) Cutler. Coming out of college, he had all of the physical skills but he seemed to lack the intangibles; Bob sees a lot of Jeff George in him, which is why he will always be given a chance in the NFL.

12:50 – More NFL Talk: Bob looks at 2 Linebackers taken in similar spots in the draft and have played in similar systems, Lamarr Woodley in Pittsburgh and Anthony Spencer in Dallas. Woodley has 39 sacks while Spencer has 15.5; though the Cowboys gave up 3 picks to move up 10 spots in the draft in order to take Spencer. Is it a matter of evaluating personnel or is it the coaching and development once the player is drafted? The answer to that question could tell you what the major difference between the Steelers and the Cowboys is.

1:15 – Donovan’s Samples: Donovan comes back with some more Hip-Hop songs that use samples from obscure songs or less known songs. Previous songs examined: “Mary Mary” by Run DMC, “I Left My Wallet in El Segundo” by A Tribe Called Quest, and “Just a Friend” by Biz Markie.

1:35 – Some Baseball Talk: Friday, a trade went down that sent Vernon Wells from Toronto to the hated Angels. Surprisingly, Wells is the 2^nd highest paid player in baseball. The Angels pulled out of the Adrian Beltre deal because he was too pricey, yet they sign Wells for just as much and their giving up Mike Napoli and Juan Rivera. In other news, Rafael Soriano is now a Yankee from division rival Tampa Bay. In an embarrassment of riches, the Yankees signed the number 1 closer in the league, give him number 1 closer money, and yet make him their setup guy. Typical Yankees.

1:55 – Gay Not Gay: Dear Gay not Gay, is it gay to put a sticker on the back of your car that simply is 13.1; representing that you ran a half marathon? Yes, a 13.1 sticker is gay; 26.2 or IronMan, not so much. Dear Gay not Gay, is it gay to get the MVP treatment (hot towel and neck massage) from a man at SportsClips? Pretty much. (It’s also gay to use the term bangs when describing your haircut). Dear Gay not Gay, is it gay to have a Dodge Viper and a custom vanity license plate that reads “SSSSSSS”. Super Gay. Finally, it is not gay to assist a friend who has dipped his chip in queso and can’t shake the queso loose so you use your chip to “end the dip”.

2:15 – Mavs vs. Clippers: “Check the schedule for when the Clippers are in town”, words you thought you’d never say. Tonight, the Mavericks welcome the LA basketball that doesn’t have Kobe on the roster. Blake Griffin is a beast and makes his debut in the AAC. Breaking News: The Rangers have dealt Pitcher Frank Francisco to the Blue Jays for Catcher Mike Napoli.

2:35 – 5 Minute Major: The Stars have had an extremely tough time closing out this current road trip into Canada; giving up 7 goals in each of the last 2 games.

2:45 – Ranch Report: David Moore joins the show from Lambeau Field. He’s currently spending a week in Green Bay; the perks of being a newspaper reporter. It’s amazing how the Packers have responded to injuries on both sides of the ball and have the success that they’ve had. They have never trailed by more than 7 points all season and their 6 losses have come by 6 points or less. Hopefully he’ll report on the strip club in Green Bay where the strippers wear Jorts.
