Knicked in New York (Rock Me)...

Mavs show up too late, lose to Knicks …Team plays as horrible as it can in 1st Half...Avery blows a gasket…

"It's disappointing for me to watch a few guys in their second year here and you just don't get any consistency [from them]," Johnson said. He singled out Devin Harris, Adrian Griffin, Jason Terry and Jerry Stackhouse as players who were "battling out there."

Clearly, it was the second-year Mavs that Johnson didn't mention – Erick Dampier and Keith Van Horn among them – who drew his ire. The Mavs fell behind by as much as 18 in the first half and allowed the Knicks to grab an embarrassing 28 offensive rebounds.

Trust me, losses like this are good for the team. If they come back and win last night, it sends the message that “it is ok to not compete for 3 quarters and because you are good you can start trying then and win the game.” The Stars need to learn this lesson, too. Compete against everyone, not just teams you think are good.

Cowboys seek a new radio home

The executive, who requested anonymity pending an official announcement of the split, said KLUV suffered significant losses in a contract that paid the Cowboys $8 million in 2005. The Cowboys were asking for more starting in '06, the executive said.

The Cowboys have no comment, said team spokesman Rich Dalrymple.

CBS Radio and the Cowboys discussed various economic models, including revenue sharing and a straight time buy from the station that would have allowed the Cowboys to sell their own advertising.

Dan Bennett, general manager at The Ticket (1310-AM), said the all-sports station had a brief conversation with the Cowboys in November but could not meet the asking price.

"It wasn't palatable with our business model," he said.

Broadcasters Brad Sham and Babe Laufenberg would be free to move with the team.

Our business model is built around Norm’s and Rhyner’s cash, not the Cowboys….

Rumors from Kirk Bohls

The Houston Texans, who probably will hire Broncos offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak as their new head coach whenever Denver is eliminated from the playoffs or wins the Super Bowl, are considering sending quarterback David Carr to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for former Longhorn running back Ricky Williams and Miami’s first-round draft pick in 2007. Kubiak would hire former Longhorn great Jerry Gray as his defensive coordinator (Gray may want to bolt the sinking ship in Buffalo) and hire Texas’ Greg Davis as his quarterbacks coach. Davis has long had a close association with the Broncos. Maybe the Dolphins figure Williams is tainted goods, considering all his baggage and may think Carr is ready to blossom after going through all his growing pains in Houston. That could free up Houston to take Vince Young with the No. 1 pick on April 29. Sounds interesting.

Does this man look like a future Lambeau Legend?

I don't think so, either. I certainly did not have him on my radar: Mike McCarthy is the new Packers coach ???….Yippee.

Top 10 Free Agents this summer in the NBA according to Chris Sheridan of ESPN Insider:

1. Ben Wallace, Detroit Pistons (Unrestricted)
2. Al Harrington, Atlanta Hawks (Unrestricted)
3. Jason Terry, Dallas Mavericks (Unrestricted)

Just two years after losing Steve Nash, the Mavs could be in position to have another playmaker bolt town if the market brings Terry an offer that owner Mark Cuban would not want to match. But the Mavs have Terry's Bird rights and can give him a deal with 10.5 percent raises, while other teams could offer only 8 percent annual raises. Terry will likely succeed in getting a five- or six-year deal, and it's a safe bet at this point that the Mavs will keep him.

4. Vladimir Radmanovic, Seattle SuperSonics (Unrestricted)
5. Peja Stojakovic, Sacramento Kings (Team option)
6. Nene, Denver Nuggets (Restricted)
7. Mike James, Toronto Raptors (Player option)
8. Bobby Jackson, Memphis Grizzlies (Unrestricted)
9. Joel Przybilla, Portland Trail Blazers (Unrestricted)
10. Speedy Claxton, New Orleans Hornets (Unrestricted)

18. Keith Van Horn, Dallas Mavericks (Unrestricted)

There's going to be a huge pay cut for Van Horn, the No. 2 overall pick in 1997. He's making $15.7 for the Mavericks.

Is that a picture of the Packer's new coach, or that paramedic in McKinney that got busted yesterday for stealing drugs? Look at the nbc5i website, they could be the same guy or twins!!

Sorry Bob, but good lord, this is as bad as if Dallas had hired the Houston Texans o-line coach. Wait a minute, maybe not.

On a side note: Bull Riders are still called "bull riders" but rodeo clowns are now called "bull fighters". Yes, I know, my redneck is showing.

"Ph" Big Mac for saying your Blog is a waste of time yesterday.

This loss might be good for the Mavs, but that doesn't make it any easier for this Mavs fan living in Brooklyn. I am not looking forward to facing my coworkers today.

Seems the main good that can come from a game like this would be a significant cut in Big Damp's minutes. It's been proven that he can't be embarrassed into playing well. The last Maverick that showed this little pride was Adrian Dantley.

i fail to see the point in firing sherman to hire some nobody offensive coordinator to fill his shoes

If the Texans pull off that trade and then select Vince Young with the #1 pick, they'll be the most popular team in the state for the next 10 years. Gotta say it would be funny seeing an Aggie as the head coach of a team with the 2 most famous former Longhorns in the last 20 years on the roster.

i happened to catch that rap when it aired, basically flipping through channels and landed on snl right when that bit started, it was funny the first few times but has gotten very very old.

damn right eric. aggy needs to keep quiet. when was the last time aggy did anything? aggy has only beaten Texas 1 time since 1998. aggy is jealous of Texas' success and is taking it out on VY. Poor aggy. I hate Houston sports teams, but I would have to start watching if VY is playing there, and it would be that much better if Ricky was there too.

Get it right aggy, it is SEAFOOD dinner, not steak dinner.

Ok, enough fun with aggy for today. Time to go home.

Texas Longhorns: National Champions! SCOREBOARD!!!!

I'm surprised more Aggies don't refer to TCU as u.c.t.
With an equal number of Heisman winners and national titles (and more 11-win seasons), the Frogs make a more logical rival.

Go ahead and count how many A&M players are currently playing in the NFL as compared to U.T.

Q: Why do no Longhorns go to the NFL early?

A: Because they'd take a paycut by leaving U.T.

aggy is working really hard (research, etc) to prove that he is not inferior to The University of Texas.

All I have to say is:
6 in a row over aggy
