Mavericks 122
Entering the game, teams down 0-3 in a playoff series were a combined 0-98 in the series- they are now 0-99.
The Mavericks complete the improbable and unfathomable 4 game sweep of the defending NBA champion Lakers. Like in game 3, shown by their HIGHEST ADS+ of the season at 15.6ft, Dallas won while attempting a large amount of long distance lower percentage shots. And in game 4, even more of these shots rained in from long distance at a rate only comparable to being "on fire" in NBA Jam.
In fact, last night the Mavericks hit a few season highs regarding shots from 3 point land:
-43.8% of their FGA's were from 3 point range, their highest ratio this season.
-20 made 3PA's while shooting 62.5% (20 of 32) from behind the arc were both, by far, highs for the Mavs this season.
Lets give credit to the Dallas big men, Dirk and Tyson, who gave the Lakers all they could handle in games 1 and 2. This in turn drawing the Lakers defense into the paint for double teams and giving up wide open looks to the sharp shooting Serbian Sniper and JET, which paid dividends of 15/16 for 94% shooting from behind the arc in game 4.
Taking this many long range shots might not always be the wisest plan of attack for the Mavs. However, last night, in the words of Scoops Callahan, it sure turned out to be the Bee's Knees for Dallas.
Lets take a look at the numbers:
