Duty Calls

As you may imagine, the news of the day has trumped my blog entry for the day. I am off to do what I do, but please feel free to comment away on the T.O. O.D. Thread.

We pray all is good! T.O. has everything he needs to get through what ever is going on, so lets see it work out and GET ON THE FIELD!

What a circus?!

I find it really hard for anyone to comment on this. I've been sitting here watching ESPN this morning, and have heard dozens of different thoughts.

They just had Clarence Hill on the air and he said that he talked to Terrell's publicist who was with him and went to the hospital. He said that she told him that he mixed some supplements and had an adverse effect. In any case, she told him that he did NOT attempt suicide.

So, I'm just going to wait until 1:30 for the Cowboys press conference. Until then, I'll take EVERYTHING I hear with a grain of salt.

Oh yeah, game tomorrow night at Amon Carter at 5:00. Come and wear purple!

Go FROGS!!!!!!!!

Regardless of what you think of Owens personally, you have to hope that he gets some help if he indeed did attempt suicide.

This has to be the most shocking story in the sports world in quite some time. But I have a feeling that we still don't know the full story yet.

I am off to do what I do = strokin' it?

out of all the likely T.O. explosions, this wouldn't have been one of my preseason predictions in a million years.

i doubt we'll know the real circumstances for a long time.

Man I hate that guy.

But I hope this isn't true. Because that's just sad.

Would they really release from the hospital and send him home that fast if he took that many pills?

I think this is probably getting blown out of proportion...

hope it's not true

Can anyone say Barret Robbins?

Feel bad for the guy and hopefully he gets healthy and some help too. As far as the team, Let's hope Big Bill can handle something I'm sure he's never come across on this scale before.

OK... just waiting for the Gordo quip.... TO = Tylenol Overdose.

I feel bad for Terrel. People around the office have been making comments about "What does he have to worry about? He's got $40 million... blah blah blah..."

Let's not forget that money does not make you any more or any less of a human being.

"dangit! my work is blocking bobanddan.net/forums!!!!"

It's blocked for me, too. Fortunately, it cannot block the good, sweet, clean signal of the Ticket.

I'm sure somebody will keep you abreast of what's going on.

T.O. is gonna make you pay for all this garbage. T.O. is reknowned for playing hurt. You think T.O. can't play dead? Oh, T.O. can play better dead than Donovan can cry in the huddle, sucka. T.O. says Parcells is a pussy faced pussy. Oh my! T.O.'s hand is sliding down T.O.'s pants now! Oh my gawd, T.O. is giving T.O. a reach around. It feels fantastic! Like eating tomato soup out of Mrs. McNabb's butthole!. T.O. rules.

he probably would have an easier time killing himself choking on his own cock.

Is anyone else having a problem listening to the Ticket online?

I live in Burleson, and get HORRIBLE reception to my stereo in my house. So, I usually listen online, but it's not working today.

Anyone else notice this?

Anonymous said...

But can he play this week?

Anonymous said...

the online stream is running slow as hell right now. every work computer is tuned into it as we speak.

and my god...what's with these abrasive comments about roosters and cats, brian and T.O.?

Here's a link to Clarence Hill's report based on his interview this morning with T.O.'s publicist.

Police report at Smoking Gun

This is all a publicity stunt, made by Deion, TO, Drew, Mike and the publicist to gain TO some sympathy, but they screwed it up.

Anonymous said...

So it's the blogs' fault that the Dallas Police Department report was wrong, Mickey?

Wow.

Anonymous said...

Odds that Parcells himself will commit suicide after dealing with some of those idiotic questions.

10 to 1.

Anonymous said...

The Ticket should be ashamed of itslef for being involved in the coverup.

DAMMIT, SOMEONE FIX THE STREAMING AUDIO! It's amazing how the commercials work perfectly.

Here’s T.O.

Apologizes to the Cowboys…There was no suicide attempt…Went home, took a few pain pills, got groggy, took extra pills with supplements…Bottle was empty but the rest of the pills were in a drawer…Rumor that he took 35 pills is absurd. I wouldn’t be here today if I did…Did not have stomach pumped…I wasn’t as coherent as the paramedic thought I was [when he was asked if he was trying to harm himself]…Refers more specific questions to his publicist, Kim Etheridge…Thinks he can play on Sunday…I’m not depressed by any means…Says it was an allergic reaction.

Kim Etheridge speaking now.

Owens was no coherent to speak…Had a long day and had some treatment…Was in a lot of pain when he came home from practice…Did not tell police officers that Owens was depressed…Upset that people take advantage of Owens…She called 911 because he was not feeling well and not coherent…Also says it was an allergic reaction…States she did not take anything out of his mouth.

T.O. speaking again.

Thanks staff of Dallas FD and E.R. staff at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas as well as all his well-wishers across the league.

no problem.

BTW, last week is all water under the bridge as far as I'm concerned.

well Bob....turns out to be a bunch of nothing.

The police should be embarrased...

so go ahead and do a blog now, because this morning was a waste of everyones time.

"I love me some hydrocodone"

Anonymous said...

The police have no reason to be embarrased. The officer at the scene took a report based on what Etheridge said. She is lying today, mainly because it is her job to protect TO's image. Did he attempt suicide? I don't think he did. But did she think he was making an attempt when she called 911? Absolutely. Contrary to what anti-police folks would have you believe, we don't have any reason to lie on police reports, ESPECIALLY if what happened was not a crime. I'm not sure about Dallas, but where I work, it is standard procedure for the police to go with fire/rescue when there is any kind of overdose, accidental or not, no matter what the chemical (be it alcohol, prescriptions, or over-the-counter) was ingested. They probably asked TO if he was attempting suicide because that would be grounds for an Emergency Order of Detention (placing TO in a psych hospital for mandatory evaluation)...when he was unresponsive (as you would be with taking too much pain medication), his idiot PR lady said he was trying to kill himself. Today, she realized SHE blew it out of proportion, but was afraid to admit that she freaked out. It doesn't look good if you're a PR person for a "troubled" guy, you see him zonked out on goofballs and you automatically assume he was trying to kill himself.

Anonymous said...

Hopped up on goofballs in a state of hooby gooby.

Anonymous said...

I don't think the Police are lying, I just think they don't know what they were seeing. It's not like cops are doctors or anything.

They may have legimately thought he had attempted suicide, but they had no clue what in the hell had really happened, that's all.

I think Rick's post is closer to the truth than anything else I've heard so far today.

Welcome back to the living, T.O.D.

Yeah, I know, I stole it from Deadspin. What can I say? I suck.

Flaco said...

clearly he did not take 35 of anything. he looked fine.

why would she lie then? if she did it was only to save her own skin. She could've easily said "i made a mistake"

what does she have to lose? who is she? she is nobody.

somebody messed up.

Anonymous said...

Who cares - he can play.

Anonymous said...

can he?

Anonymous said...

Here's what she has to lose: she is paid (probably an ass-load of money) to make TO look good. There is a huge stigma out there against people who attempt suicide (See: Underwood, Demetrius; Spellman, Alonzo). She thought what she saw was suicide. What she probably saw was the "allergic reaction." I can see how she thought it may have been suicide, so I don't blame her for her freakout. But, if TO legitimately tried to committ suicide, then he's more crazy than everyone thought he was. It's her job to make him look not crazy. She f-ed up, but if she says, "I thought he was trying to kill himself, but I guess he wasn't" that's still a checkmark in the "Negative Image" column. I see this a lot...not a high-profile athlete, but usually with spouses. The wife takes a couple more pills than she was supposed to, the husband says she's been acting "weird and depressed" lately, but then we come to find out it was an accidental overdose, and the husband calls in to complain about how he never suggested it could be suicide and we're "defaming his wife's character" by taking an Attempted Suicide report.

Was it me or did T.O.'s publicist look tore up? She didn't exactly dress for the occasion.

I'm disgusted that the Cowboys would allow T.O.'s PR lady to use their press conference to call the Dallas police liars. She's lying, for the reasons Rick stated. Anyone know an email address for the Cowboys?

Did anyone notice on ESPN's NON-Stop Coverage that the chubby white guy with the comb-over ended his hosting duties with saying "Terrell Owens denies having failed at a suicide attempt"...If you deny failing the attempt, doesn't that mean you succeeded?

I think these sports blow-hards were so hoping for some news and to be first, they didn't care if it was right.

Do I believe the publicist? No, everything about her at the press conference said "I'm lying" body language, facial expression, etc. But she did look tore up.

I don't think T.O. attempted suicide and before this episode really didn't care for the guy, but since the media hates him and the enemy of my enemy is my friend, I'll be buying that T.O. Jersey tomorrow.

The line of the day does go the Publicist.

"T.O. has 25 million reasons to live."

My smoking gun/ rabbit hole theory:

only because this will explain every question, no matter how absurd.

TO and the PR chick are in a romantic relationship. They get into a big fight, and TO, being a huge DIVA and over reactor, decides to threaten suicide. PR girl calls his bluff and he throws down the bottle of pills into his gullet. TO was thinking he will throw them up, PR girl freaks out tries to pull the last 2 pills from his mouth, and calls 911. TO realizes he went too far, and has to go to the ER. His PR secret fling has mud on her face, and will be fired soon, and no more TO nookie.

This is my thought, and it explains everything. TO did not commit suicide, nor try. The PR girl was telling the truth w/ the cops, and the cops are not corrupt. TO and PR are playing spin control now and are lying. In my theory, the only leap of faith you have to take is that TO and PR are an item.

Yeah I think TO and the publicist were doing something on the side. Why else would she be over at his house at night? Could they not talk something over on the phone? In any case, I'd say about 5 or 6 people really know what happened that night. But I can promise you it didn't have much to do with either suicide or a few too many pain killers.
And it kind of pisses me off that all the national media decided to go with the sexiest "Police report: Owen tried to kill himself" headline, which is complete cochamamy. If he did try to kill himself the hospital workers would have never released him, even if they were Cowboy fans and had money on them covering the spread.
